Hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive (HMPSA) is a 100 % solid, solvent-free thermoplastic that combines aggressive tack at room temperature with the ability to form an instant bond under light pressure. Applied in a molten state and cooled in seconds, it retains permanent tackiness, allowing labels, tapes, medical patches or construction membranes to be repositioned or cleanly removed without additional curing. The polymer backbone—typically styrenic block copolymers, amorphous poly-α-olefins or metallocene polyolefins—can be tuned for service temperatures from –40 °C to +150 °C, UV and plasticizer resistance, or biocompatibility, making HMPSAs indispensable in packaging, hygiene, automotive interior and wearable medical device assembly.
