Preparation technology and performance advantages of medical hot melt adhesives

Preparation Technology

Interface Modification Process: Carbonyl iron powder is coated with silica to form a molecular-level interpenetrating structure with polyolefin resin. Example 2 shows that this process can increase the tensile strength to 5.24 MPa and the elongation at break to 540%.

Graft Copolymerization: SIS-PEG grafted products are prepared using a free radical initiation method. When the grafting rate is controlled at 45 parts, the initial tack and holding power reach an optimal balance.

High-Temperature Coating Process: Melt extrusion at 135-160℃ achieves a coating thickness deviation of ≤1.2 μm, effectively reducing the risk of particulate contamination.

Performance Advantages

Mechanical Properties: Under 45% humidity, the bond strength reaches over 72 N/inch, which is 3 times higher than conventional products. Biocompatibility: Cytotoxicity test verified as Grade 0; no sensitization reaction observed after 72 hours of skin contact.

Environmental Adaptability: Anti-condensation index >92%; maintains effective adhesion for 25 hours in a 95% RH environment.

Sterilization Compatibility: Supports electron beam irradiation sterilization; peel strength attenuation rate <8% after irradiation with a 50kGy dose.
