Book Binding Hot Melt Glue Granules combine two complementary grades-TH-404 and TH-406C-that together cover every adhesive demand of modern perfect-binding lines.
TH-404 is a natural-white, low-odor EVA copolymer delivered in dust-free granules that melt rapidly at 150–170 °C. Formulated for dual-function use, it performs equally well as spine glue or side glue on single-tank, straight-line binders, eliminating the need to stock two separate products. Medium viscosity (4,000–5,500 cps at 170 °C) gives excellent lay-flat control on signatures of offset or art paper from 60 gsm to 200 gsm, while still allowing 3–5 s open time for minor adjustment before the aggressive tack locks fibers in place. The flexible film withstands repeated page-turns and 180° pull tests without spine cracks or cold-flow, yet trims cleanly on three-knife cutters, producing square, burr-free edges.
TH-406C is the dedicated side-glue solution, supplied as bright-yellow granules that flow like liquid at 160 °C, wetting instantly into cover boards, laminated jackets or UV-varnished wraps. High specific adhesion (> 8 N/cm²) creates a permanent mechanical bond between cover and spine, preventing covers from lifting even on landscape albums or thick hard-backs subjected to temperature cycling from −20 °C to +60 °C. Low volatility and zero phthalate content keep bound books odor-free and safe for child-friendly or food-contact applications.
Both grades are 100 % solid, RoHS & REACH compliant, and exhibit outstanding thermal stability-no char, gel or discoloration after 10 h in the melt tank-so presses run continuously at 5,000–15,000 cycles h⁻¹ with minimal cleaning.
