Basic introduction to hot melt adhesive used in edge banding machines

Hot melt adhesive for edge banding machines is an environmentally friendly, solvent-free thermoplastic adhesive primarily used for bonding engineered wood products to edge banding materials. It is applied by heating and melting, then cooled and cured to form an adhesive layer, suitable for materials such as PVC, melamine paper, and wood veneer. Based on application, it can be divided into three categories: edge banding, wrapping, and assembly adhesives. Based on operating temperature, it is classified into low-temperature (140-160℃), medium-temperature (160-180℃), and high-temperature (180-210℃) adhesives, each suitable for different equipment and material thicknesses.

With industry development, PUR hot melt edge banding adhesive is increasingly being used. It forms an irreversible bond through a moisture reaction, exhibiting superior temperature resistance, bond strength, and chemical corrosion resistance compared to traditional adhesives. This type of adhesive can bond special materials such as aluminum and acrylic, and requires a smaller amount-only about 2 grams of adhesive per meter of edge banding-driving the furniture industry towards high efficiency and environmental friendliness.
